I’ll start with a question and a screenshot.
One of my issues with the non-fiction/self-help genre is the covers. Why do they have to make them embarrassing to read in public?
It’s unfortunate because there’s a lot of value in them.
Reading the online summary of “Start With Why” (sorry, Simon), I realized that sharing your WHY is common in storytelling and businesses.
Mr. Sinek says:
To figure out your WHY, take a step back and examine your motivation behind what you do.
It’s more than just making a profit (or at least, it should be). It’s the big, bold vision that motivates your company. Once you have your WHY, you can start focusing on sharing it effectively with the world.
The quickest way to grow a gang is by letting them know WHY you do what you do. That gang can be an online audience, and the “what you do” can range from growing a meth operation when diagnosed with terminal cancer to educating the world on Indigenous cosmovisions.
.
There’s a WHY for everyone.
.
We root for an underdog rather than a champion because we know what the underdog is going for.
.
So, in short:
Step 1 - Find why you do what you do.
Step 2 - Share that why honestly so we can empathize.
Step 3 - Start the gang. Rule the streets.
.
Like, sub, share? :)
